fuel filter screen

Could someone tell me were that little screen is to go as last week changed fuel filter(first time) and happened to look at old filter today and saw small screen inside of filter :eek: I assume it goes in bottom of bowl but any helpful hints would be good Thanks I did a "search" but didn,t really see anything in regards to this

It is covered in the 2002 reprints!

Inside the filter housing there is a verticle riser pipe in the center. Use "a deep well 5/8" socket", "...with an installed depth of 1.034" from the top of the riser pipe tothe top of teh poroperly installed plastic retainer."
