Fuel heater not working

What problems could this cause if the fuel in the filter is not heated before getting to the injector pump?

Where are you? I'm in NH and have run without a fuel heater for almost 4 years with no problems. Suppliers blend diesel with kerosene in wintertime so the fuel won't gel at the predicted low temp for the area.
