Water pump R&R advice

Hello

Anyone out there with words of wisdom regarding removal and replacement of a water pump in an 86 van with a 6.2?? Seems like a pretty major job because of everything i have to remove to get the pump.

Because i don't have any formal documents on performing the job i'm working off intuition and advice i've cobbled together. Anything helps. Thank you. R

The water pump replacement is pretty straight forward, and no different than any other vehicle. Problem is, as you've figured out, much more difficult in the van. Once you remove the fan shroud, place a sheet of cardboard against the radiator to prevent damage from a misguided tool or the fan during removal. I know of some that will remove the front clip and radiator (and condensor), but I've done it with them in place no problem.
