Got some ?'s for those that have the DS4 BOOK!

I'm wanting to know a few specific running parameters on a DS4 engine, and what to tell is in the range, what the range is...

1. Injr Pulse Width (96+ is called Injr Close Time)
-Whats the range (from x to x) and the measurement (milliseconds, etc.)

2. Whats the factory TDC offset supposed to be set at?

3. API number for fuel quality
-Whats the range here again too

4. Fuel rate at idle in mm
-need to know what the range here is too, and what it typically is (good and bad)

5. The physical timing (actual vs desired)

Basically, the reason for this is to fight a denied claim on a DS4 pump replacement, the dealer is actually working with me on this problem (intermittant skip) that was fixed with swapping out a spare pump, before I gave up on the engine due to bad noises.

There is a manual out floating around called Electronic Injection, for the 6.5, I never can get to buy one on ebay, last *second* bidders.

Thanks!

According to my alldata subscription info:

1. Injection Pump Solenoid Closure Time should be 1.70 to 1.90 milliseconds

2. The factory TDC offset is between +0.75 to -1.75 (it says factory setting varies with engine)

3. API number for fuel quality - not sure on this

4. Fuel rate is 7-15 mm3 (all rpms)

5. Both the actual and desired timing are supposed to be: 4-10 at idle
14-20 at 2500 rpm

I know on my warranty replacement injection pump, the sol. closure time always seem to run around 2.0-2.2 ms, which seems too long as the truck has never seemed to run as smoothly as it did with the original pump. I think others have noted a similar experience - seems as though the newest pumps are set up that way, right or wrong (maybe it's Stanadyne getting back at GM?).

Hope that helps, Joe.

Joe,

Thank you very much for the information!!

You've given me what I need to make the claim.

The 95 service manual says that TDC Offset should be between 0 and -.5
