View Full Version : oil filter
The Baldwin B1428 is a replacement for the 6.2/6.5 Oil filters. I recall talk for a deeper (1 addition quart or so) Baldwin filter. Anyone have the part number of the deeper Baldwin filter for the 6.2/6.5?
B7 is the Baldwin "2 quart" filter, NAPA is 1794, Wix - 51794, Delco - PF932. These most likely won't fit in IFS 4x4 applications due to length, and I'm not sure if they fit turbocharged apps due to possible crossover pipe interference.

Craig,
Many years ago, I tried the 2 qt filter. On the 84, I ran into direct contact with the down pipe from the exhaust manifold. I never went further at that time, but I do know that it will fit the 6.2NA engine. The catalog said the application for for a 454 big block.

Thanks guys. Will check the area below the filter for addition room. My two Suburbans are pretty stock 6.2's so may work. Other 6.2 has the Banks turbo so will check clearance of down pipe to filter area. Will check Yukon also. The B7's are about $10 each when one buys a dozen at a time.
Check eBay, I picked up a case of 12 PF932s for $32 a while back. I've gotten similar deals on B7s and Purolator's equivalent before.
I looked on ebay for the B7's, none currently available. Not sure if I trust the other brands these days. Baldwin seems one of the few that still has a good product.
Getcha one of those remote adapters and mount what ever sort of filter you desire on the beast.
The stuff to do it is readily available.

have you checked for fit with the banks engine yet?, I am about to install my kit and was wondering if it would fit.

I have used several of the larger filters on my '94 6.5TD in a P-32 motor home chassis. Had no problems with any interferences.

FYI, The extended filters work fine with the banks crossover pipe, doesnt even come close to causing an issue.
