View Full Version : Nokian Vatiiva tires
My revos are done after 40K miles and I could not stop them from cupping on the outside. They were good in the wet and ok on packed snow or ice but I was not impressed in the deeper stuff.
Has anyone tried the nokian vatiiva? They are a Finnish tire and the Nokians are supposed to be one of the best winter tires made. The Vatiiva is a all season tire and they have my size with the 'E' rating and 50K mile warranty. The Vatiiva does not have the severe service emblem (snow flake on peaked Mtn) as do the other Nokians but the tread looks like it would be good in the snow. With the full depth siping, the tire is supposed to be excellent in the wet and on ice.
Thanks for any info.
My revo's make my truck hop in the snow and if i have any little bit of weight on like an empty trailer it hops like crazy. I have 36,000km on them and they are wearing out in a hurry.
My Revos seemed to get noisier around 25K miles but maybe this had someting to do with the cupping.
The Vatiiva is apparently made by Cooper in the U.S. to the Nokian specs and Kal Tire in canada has the exclusive.
I'm located in Vancouver, B.C. Canada. We are currently getting a big dump of snow and I'm having them installed on monday --- I'll let you know how they feel if anyone is interested.

I'm curious.
So far I'm pleased with the Nokian tires in snow and on ice of which we have had our fair share lately. This is certainly way early but I guess "climate change" is effecting everyone. The very first thing that impressed me was the quiet ride. They are all-season and revos are all-terrain, maybe that is why, but they are very quiet. Heading up north for some snowmobiling in the next week or two and that will be the real test.

How much snow have you drove in? What configuration is your truck? Thanks
Truck is a 02 2500 HD, D/A short box, crew cab, 4X4. Snow is melting now but we were driving in 8" or so with two wheels only most of the time and had no serious problems unless we got too aggressive. Driving on lots of packed snow and ice and only needed four wheel drive on glassy ice a couple of times. So far I'm happy and must elaborate on the great ride and lack of noise. Some of the ride probably comes with having the full tread of a new tire. We must also remember that I'am comparing the noise level to a worn Revo that was cupping but I honestly don't remember the Revos being this quiet or being better in snow or on ice.
Trip up north will determine if I made the right decision or not.
