PMD part #

I just ordered one. The box says 35976 but the # on the PMD is 34583. I have heard that the later part # are better. Any truth to this. They supply a new harness with it. Do I have to change this as well?

Put it on a cooler. Does it look used? Does it have a number 5 Res. in side the connector. New transfer heat pad?
Harness,got it,use it. May be a good thing.
Nowadays,doubt you'll fine a bad Driver unless used. Doubt a supplyer would do that.

34583 is the latest thru 2002 - the 4-digit number on the transistor drivers is the date code.

Post it here for reference, and I can tell you actual date of manufacture.

The new harness is teflon-insulated silvered wire, crimped and soldered - trucks across your vintage had problems with the oem un-soldered silicone rubber insulated harness, so replace it if you can

Thanks gmctd. Looks like quite a job to replace the harness without removing the intake. I have the HD intake to put on the truck but may have to wait for spring as I don't have the luxury of a shop. Supposed to be -20 cel. by wednesday.

Yep - that is a little chilly to be pulling' an intake manifold, fer sure.

Several date code systems are used to indicate product vintage -

Year and Julian date - 0 = 2000 and 347 = 347th day (34583 - could be)

Julian date and year - 034 = 34th day and 7 = 2007 (not yet!)

Month and year - 03 = March 47 = 1947 (not even - '94 first EFI 6.5!)

Year and month - 03 = 2003 47 = 47th month of that year (!?!)

Week and year - 03rd week 47 = 1947 (Where were you in 1947?)

Year and week - 03 = 2003 47 = 47th week

Several systems are very unlikely with that number sequence, so if we settle for year and week as being most likely - 0347 = November 2003.

As the devices were made in '03, the module would necessarily have been made some time after that, demand and supply being what it is

Doesn't necessarily imply that it is not a new item, only that that particular module was pulled from some local stock.

Missing resistor-pak is also 'new' indicator
