I finally bought some tires so that I could install my H2 wheels I picked up for about $30 a piece! The tires are BFG Rugged Trail LT265/70/17E.

I think the new look is awesome but let me hear your opinions. I still need to clean up the rear axle shaft and hub so I can paint it silver. Then I am going to cut out the center of the H2 center cap and install it. When I am finished it should look pretty decent.

The new wheels are definitely much better looking than the old steel wheels.

looks real good, a big improvement!

i've done my 98 and 96 k3500s recently with h2 rims, 99-04 8-lug center caps, and michelin 265/70/17's that silly dodge owners are unloading for more aggresive meats.

cost $750 for the 98 and $430 for the 96.

the ride and handling difference is amazing according to the folks who drive them.

Looks great. WOW $30, that's great. Your truck looks like mine. I would not have been able to imagine the truck would look that good with those rims.

How much lighter are the rims vs. the stock steel boat anchors? Where did you get the rims from, eBay?

I watched every pair of H2 rims sell on Ebay for a month or two and noticed a few sets of them sold for just under $150. Since I wasn't in a hurry, I started bidding on every set with a reserve of less than $150. It took a while but ended up with a set from a chevy dealer in Kansas City. He had a deal with the hummer dealership across the street. When I picked them up at the dealership, they had couple sets of them hanging on the wall for sale for $600 a set so I felt pretty good about my purchase!

The look of the suburban is totally changed. I've gotten so many compliments on it already.

The only way it would look better is if I would have bought the tires of the H2 as well. If you don't know, they are the equivalent of a 35x12.5x17 BFG all terrain and would have required a lift on the suburban.

That's cool, thanks! 35" tires, nahh, I like the stock height. Kids (5 and 2 yrs) would love climbing and out though. I have to haul the kids around and I think the wife would kill me! For now, I'll leave the mods to the ones she can't see! :)

My wife wouldn't appreciate having to "climb" into the suburban every time like I would. I've got a 6, 4, and 3 year old at home that I think would have fun with it though.

They look great! I have them on mine too, but I am trying to figure out how to get the 2003 Chevy caps from a steel wheel to fit (I didnt get the ones from the aluminum wheels). Seems I need much longer outside threaded lug bolts to make them work.

just keep watching ebay instead of modifying the steel ones

a set of aluminum gmc 8-lug caps went for $11 yesterday and i bought a set of chevy 8-lugs for $24.52 yesterday.

last set of h2 rims i bought cost me $81 for 4 without caps. they are perfect condition. cost $75 to ship them to me.....

Dang, that was cheap...I will keep watching. Have you installed any of those caps on your Pre 2000 trucks? And if so, did you use your original lug bolts?

yes, the 96 and 98 k3500's have them (they are both single rear wheel). i had my local tire guy mount them and the tires and they didn't charge me for new lugs or say anything about it....so i assume they used the old ones.

on the prices....yes, that's cheap. i have paid as much as $70 or more for a set of four caps and over $200 for a set of rims too. i've just gotten more patient lately. still having a hard time getting over letting the gmc set get by me for $11 though.
