I've got a 660 casting 6.2 setting on the floor of my shop and have been studying it. Build date of E024. It has the raised 660 casting number in the valley, thicker casting above the lifter bores, turbo oil feed on the front of the motor, and 2 piece main seal. The 660 6.2 block in my pickup now doesn't have the raise casting number in the valley, has thinner casting above the lifter bores, and no turbo oil feed.

I've hear rumor that there were updates to the origional 6.2 block, but I thought they were around '86? Anyone have a good history of 6.2 castings?

Hey Justin,

Have one of these blocks sitting in the shop too. Same scenario, two piece rear main with the turbo oil feed line.

You have found the way I tell the difference though, the raised 660 in the valley.

Nice note on the thicker lifter area.
