I have a 1993 chevy HD 3/4 w/6.2, the torque converter is slipping and not locking up over 3rd gear, more when its hot! I know it has alot of miles on it(263,000) but do I need a different tranny or just parts? also where is a good place to buy rebuilt trannys... thanks

What box is in this beast?? 700 or 4L80??
Its a hydraulic issue either way and the tranny has got to come down.
Could be seals gone or the TCC being worn out.
I test drive with a pressure gauge on the tranny test port may reveal some interesting data.

Yep - drop the pan for an oil and filter change.

Dump the pan carefully, so as not to disturb the stuff in the bottom - few shavings, some brown stuff, replace filter and fluid and go.

Or, with that hi mileage @ 13yrs old, rebuild\replace the trans.

Few shavings, lots of thick brown stuff definitely means overhaul\replace.
