just picked up my new 07 duramax and driving it home I noticed that the oil pressure only got to 45 to 50 lbs. my 01 when new was at 80 and at 94K it still was at 60 at 2000 rpms. I'm worried that this is a major problem and should take the truck back before they send the paper work to DMV and tell them to give me another truck.

That pressure sounds about right for the LBZ. Mine only carries 30 at idle and 40 to 60 at cruise. Our 02 did carry 80 at high rpm and 60 cruising.
There have been some post about this LBZ lower operating pressure.
I wouldn't worry to much. Hope that helps.

You should be just fine. Oil psi was either reduced OR the new databus reading (03+) became more reasonable/accurate.

I had the dealer test my oil pressure on my '05 LLY. Gauge read slightly low at idle, and they have a bulletin out that states 15+ PSI at idle is acceptable. My LB7s read much higher than the LLY.

I think its all sender calibration and gauge accuracy myself.

Back in 2004 GM changed the spec on the oil pump , I think they did this to help the cavitation issues. My 2001 had around 70 psi warm going down the road, the 2004.5 lly truck has right around 50 psi warm goind down the road. the LLY truck and the LBZ truck once the motor is broke in they are both the same. A long time ago Grumpy Jenkins said GM motors only need 10~12 psi of oil pressure for every 1000 RPM they turn! so if he is corect 25 psi is about all you need at cruise speed.

No Worries, RUN like some one else is paying for it!
