I have a 2003 duramax diesel with 251.000 kilometers. The service engine light just came on and the code reads air intake heater. I was wondering if any one else has had this problem. thanks

Welcome to the Forums!
What state emissions? CA/NE or Fed? Canadian equivalent (I'm not sure)? Which code? P0380? If it's P0380, it could also be a glow plug that's failed (same logic).
The heater is in the intake pipe attached to the intake manifold (plenum), AFTER the I/C plumbing. Check all fuses first, including under the hood. Disconnect the wire and check it for continuity (Just like a glow plug. That's all it is, just a huge glow plug). The resistance is so low (dead short~1000 ohms?), an ohm reading won't tell you much if it's working. If the circuit is open, it's bad. Otherwise, check the glow plugs the same way. A bad one will be an open circuit.
If everything checks out, it's probably the relay in the underhood fuse box. They're labeled. You could check the relay first, but the heater and plugs are easier.
I am in canada, and the code is po540 thanks
