I have a 82 3/4 ton pickup and a 85 suburban both with EGR I need to change head gaskets on both trucks and would like to use a 6.5 gasket. when I went to my local NAPA store the staff told me there are six different types of gaskets for the 6.5.??? Does anyone know what years are compatable and what options do I have to awncer to get the correct gasket. Help would be appricated as I would like to change the gaskets before the snow sticks around (it started today) thanks

I would not use 6.5L gaskets on either of your engines, due to the fact that your 6.2L's have extra cooling passages in the heads that sometimes leak when using 6.5L gaskets.
Just use the standard Fel-Pro gaskets for the 6.2L and you'll be fine. Make sure you use new head bolts.
Here's more info on what I'm talking about:
