timing without a tech11

Can it be done. I have searched and found vaque references to the possibility of doing a TDC offset learn without a tech 2, and with just a scanner. I would appreciate any info.

Justin I'm pretty sure for your vintage you need a T2, I've done it with a MT2500 on 98 & 99 but I think OBDII programming makes this possible for later models only with out T2

Thanks, that was exactly the info i needed. I knew that there was a difference in the 96, 97 models compared to the 98 and up. I am trying to help a friend that is dead set on converting to a mechanical system.
