Hooked up the 3 horse gooseneck to the K1500 on the weekend and towed to a horse show.
The temp gauge climbed to around 105 degrees C at 100 KPH which I thought was a bit of a worry, normal running temp not towing is around 80 degrees C.
Can anyone else advise as to what temps they are getting when towing?

I towed a 4500lb trailer up from sea level to about 6500 ft and the hottest I got on any grade was about 210F. thats about 100C. Doesnt sound too bad. Your EGT's probadly got near 1300F tho.

Thanks Guipo, forgot to mention the ambient temperature was 29C and we were at see level.
Don't have a pyro to know what the exhaust is doing but thought I might be able to find out if 105C was normal or something to worry about.
Looks like your truck handles 100C OK.

Good Day!

105C = 221F. I'd be concerned if it were me. Verify that your truck (98) has the cooling mods - you should have the dual thermostat housing, which I think means you also have the high-output water pump. This would be a good thing, but makes me wonder why you're running so hot.

I'd strongly suggest looking at A Summer service reminder ( http://www.thedieselpageforums.com/tdpforum/showthread.php?t=23438&highlight=radiator) (Click in colored text). You really won't believe what you find until you actually unbolt & move the oil & tranny cooler, & tip the radiator back from behind the A/C condenser.

Blessings!
