Am in the process of looking for a 2004/2005 K3500 extended cab dually with the LLY motor. When I pop the hood of an early/late 2004, what do I look for to easily tell the difference between an LB7 and an LLY? Thanks for your support!

Welcome to the Forums!

Look at the valve covers, outboard of the head. The LLY will have a deep scalloped valve cover, and the injectors will be in the recesses. The LB7 will have the injector lines attached through the valve covers.

Also, check the 8th digit of the VIN. LB7=1, and LLY=2.

Kjoney Wellcome to the forum. I am not sure of your location but I have a low millage 05 about like what you are describing that I am getting ready to sell in the next month or so. Look at my sig. I just want to get rid of the dull rears as I dont need them and my wife is afraid she is going to tear them off. :-)
