The Shefenacker tech support told me that they didn't recomend installing a light kit on a set of mirrors that did not originially come with a light kit. But he was nice enough to tell me which pins did what on the light modules for the application.
If you don't order the mirrors with heat/power/or lights, then what ever options you didn't order are not wired in on thier harness. So if you upgrade later, they are not plug and play. Our mirrors only came with power pan/tilt and heat.
I took the mirrors apart and pulled the three wires I needed for the upgrade, turn/marker/ground. It was a little tricky getting the wires pulled thru the sliding arms, but it can be done. The pins on the lights are very small male blades and close together. They could not supply me with a connector or harness. I took three female blade crimp style connectors
(the kind that are used on some types of speakers) I took a set of side cutters and cut them in half, one side off of the blades where they connect.
I attached the wires and put heat shrink tubing over the blades and wires, but did not heat and shrink them, it slid on just right. I was worried they may short to each other because of the close fit. I connected those to the pins on the lights. Then did the rest of the wiring in the truck as per thier directons. I also added a set of small LED lights inside the housing and behind my mirror glass. I wired those in with the turn signals, now I have the little flashing lights that I can see when looking in the mirrors, kinda like the ones on the new towing mirrors. Had to have them, Had to be different. Like the custom wood dash kit we did, dressed up with Texas stars and a cow hide center console cover. If I figure out how to post photos I'll do it sometime.
One note if you are doing an 06, the door panels come off a little diferently than the previous years. They are different than an 01-02 MY and different from a 03 -? MY.
The arm rest don't pop out anymore " they have a screw underneath" you must unplug all of the connectors from the inside of the panel after you slide it up and out partially from the door. Also a couple or new screws on the panel front. I wish All data would get the 06 program soon, it sure would help take some of the guess work out of things like that. Sorry to ramble on, but if any one else wants to upgrade, this may save you some time and idea's.
Please note that upgrading in the manner that I did may void your warranty from shefenacker on your mirrors.
And of course GM won't warranty anything that didn't come on your vehicle or any problems that arise out of doing this.
