Hello Everyone! I just bought a 1982 1/2 ton 2wd Silverado with 95K. It has be garage kept since new. It has a few problems such as the fuel guage & AC does not work. I also noticed that the PCV(?) systems connections from the hard lines to the manifold are very deteriorated. They are formed rubber ebows and such. Must I go to the dealer for new ones? I am new to Diesels so please bear with me. This website has been very informative and helped me make my decision to buy the truck. Any info as far as maintenance/performace gains would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for all your help,
Doogie

Yes you'll have to go to the dealer for the elbows and it is a CDR system on a diesel. They are not expensive. Most parts stores I went to looked at me funny when I asked if they carried anything like that. Oh make sure you check the one under the CDR (the tuna can thing).

Welcome aboard!
The advice above is sound, you'll be going to the dealer for the boots.
For the fuel gauge, it could be the resistor on the back of the gauge. If you fill the tank up and it reads only up to 1/4 tank, and 1/8 tank means half full, then it's the resistor on the back of the gauge that's failed, pretty common.
google fix-a-gauge for the fix.

Thanks for the info about the elbows. My fuel gauge is reading way past full and does not move. Any ideas. Fix-a-gauge states their repair kit is for gauges that don't read past 1/4 tank.

This could indicate an open circuit somewhere, a possible blown fuse, or a bad connection to the tank or tank switch module.
Could be the switch in the dash to swap the tanks.
Have you tried this feature?
I will check those items you mentioned.
Thank you very much,
Doogie
