In San Diego we seem to be at the edge of diesel fuel prices and I filled up yesterday at $2.39/ gal. My question is has anyone taken out their chip and seen an increase in mileage? My truck does pretty good, still about 19 mpg, but these $50 fillups are making me wince, and that's a short bed 25 gallon tank. Anybody have some good advice other than drive slower? Thanks.

Your signature shows you are setup about like me. I had a sizeable increase in milage and power when my chip went in. I would really hate to take mine out to see what happened with these fuel prices. I know you dont want to hear it, but your right foot is the major player in the fuel consumption game.

Hi JDAVE

I have not had to buy any fuel for the last two weeks or so, but up North of you we are at about $2.29 per gallon at the discount diesel fuel stations. I have never paid $2.00 per gallon for diesel and hate to start. Have puled our old 81 VW diesel pickup out of the backyard and have got it licensed now. Our Suburban get 20 plus mpg, but few rigs beat the 40 plus mpg of the VW diesel.

I have realized a .5-2 mpg gain with my chip so removing the chip may actually hurt your mpg.

leave the perf chip in place, but dont use the power. BTW around $1.79 per gallon here, used to be 1.39

2.39, WOW! and I hate paying 1.69 for fuel prices. I think that if it gets to the $3.00 mark that veggie might be the better route. Been driving the 6.2L more and more lately because I see as high as 23mpg on it, as the 6.5 only gets 16mpg. On the subject of the chip, I don't have one, but most report a small increase in fuel mileage, as long as you stay off the go petal.
