I'm aching for a diesel and have a pretty nice '53 Cadillac Series 62 with an exhaust leak, a 331ci Cadillac engine and a Hydro-matic transmission. Has anybody converted a real oldy-but-goody to diesel with the 6.5 or other GM diesel? The car's pretty heavy, so the truckish engine would be much better for the hills. My thought is to have the first WVO lowrider.
That would be cool! Do it!

The caddie weighs about 4500 lbs. and the current 331 (which is not underpowered under normal conditions) puts out 210 hp with 330 lbs.ft @ 2700 rpm. There is a ton of room under the hood, though it seems that height is the issue with some diesels. The hydra-matic would have to go. Maybe the TH700 could replace. These are floor shift models aren't they? Not column...
