Is there anyway to "rev" my engine up, other then the throttle pede,l on my 96 Suburban. I'm trying to diagnose a noise by myself, and it's hard to do on a drive-by-wire vehicle.

There is no means to manually control engine speed under the hood, The other way you could change engine speed without touching the accelerator is take a look at John Kennedy's website and do the idle-up control, this will only give you 1000,1300 or 1600 rpms. The other option is a Tech II, that can up idle speed in increments of 25 rpms up to 1500 rpm's.

Or, maybe a brick, but....
HaHa. That's why I said "by myself".
I have thought of trying the idel up switch, like on Kennedy's website.
I wonder if CarCode or Autoenginuity could do it.

The "idle up" feature is a PTO function. Even if you don't have PTO (only 3500HD's and some chassis/cab models had PTO), the PCM still has the function ability. It only needs to be enabled in the PCM, and the appropriate wiring needs to be done.
Carcode can do the idle up thing. Under enhanced tests, at least on the L65 medium duty it can.
