Have my new KD IP, how do I ensure I don't install it 180 out?

If you don't mess with the timing gear, chain or sprockets, you can't (theoretically). The pump shaft has a keyway, and the gear bolt pattern only allows it to be mounted in one position. Did you only remove the pump, or tear down the timing components?

AndyL,

As long as the front of the motor isnt ripped apart you should be ok. Just remember to take out the oil filler tube to get the bolt on the ip. It would help if you could fill the new pump with auto trans fluid and I think someone on here recommended a new filter once you have it running. I replaced mine last year. It will run better :)

hope this helps,
Don
