1997 Chevy 6.5 TD Van--Cooling and Tire Questions

Does the 1997 3500 Series Chevy Express van have upgraded cooling? I read something about a larger water pump flow capacity and dual thermosta housings? Any info would be appreciated! Does anyone know waht the stock thermostat temp was?

Highway tread tires. Has anyone used them. They are basically flat rubber with about4 or 5 grooves, no blocks at all. Terrible for snow but will they help fuel economy?

'97 was the first year that ALL production 6.5 engines had the HO cooling modification, in vans/trucks/suv's, not including P and G vans.

So yes, your engine should have the HO cooling, which includes a dual thermostat housing and a higher flow capacity waterpump that will be marked "HO" on the upper portion of the waterpump (more of the left hand side when staring at it).

195 is the stock temp, good for colder climate winters, not so great for West Texas heat.

Hopefully others will chime in about the tires. I really haven't noticed any mileage decrease with more nobby tires verses the road tires.
