2003 HD2500 Duramax AC

For about a year now, I have had an intermittant problem with my ac. Every now and again, it will stop cooling. The fan still blows but the compressor stops even though its being called on to cool. After a while, it comes back on. It has not been so much a nuisance in the past but recently its beginning to stop more frequently and for longer periods.

Has anyone experience this? Is there a known issue or defective componenet? I have replaced one pressure switch on the freon tank but it didn't help.

Could be over or under charged. Either can/will cause the cut-out. If overcharged, a higher outside temp will cause an overpressure condition. If it's been working fine for a long time under the same conditions, I'd suspect an undercharge. The system will weaken over time, making it more sensitive to a low charge.

It may have developed a leak somewhere, also.
