Guys/Gals, below is a pic of the back of my block. Question is which of the numbered points should I use to mount the block to my home made engine stand (I am taking 3 and 4 as a given) and where should the centre of gravity be?

I would say 1,3,4 & 6. Spreading out the "footprint" of the bracket that attaches to the block should make it more stable. It will be a little top heavy with the heads on.

I just put my Duramax on a stand the other day, I had to take the 1000# stand back & buy a 2000# stand, would not want anything lighter.

Here are some pics of my DIY stand... The legs and centre support are 75mm

The cross braces are 40mm, the tube for holding the mounting plate is 47mm.

It is 865mm long, 900mm wide and sits 1000mm high. The mounting plate is 5mm thick, the tube is 3.7mm thick and the box is 2mm thick.
