View Full Version : Suburban tailight bulb holder

My RH turn signal is broken. It has the same burned contacts as the left one I changed out a year or so ago. Can I get just the plastic plate that holds the bulbs and screws into the lens? Does anybody have a part # or a source? I want to avoid having to buy the lens this time.

Napa had the plate for my 97 pickup I think they are the same style. Should be availiable from other parts suppliers as well.

I just replace the passenger side one on my sub this morning. It listed for $25.99 IIRC.

Which lens? Front, rear? I have a 95 GMC Sierra I'm parting out. I may have what you need.

What part are we talking about here? I've never seen lamp fixture "wear out". All the ones I have, and had, are/were original, except those damaged by impact.

I just sold my '98 Suburban to my son in law and during the 9 years and 245,000 I owned it, I replaced both of the rear bulb assemblies. They just get hot over time and short out. I was told at one point this is a known issue and most dealers have plenty of them in stock. The right and left are different part numbers. Ed

Often when this happens it's really due to high resistance connections causing the heat. Put some dielectric grease on the contacts and they won't heat up...

That must play a part with the problem. I use the grease and never have a problem with them burning up.

BTW....
The socket/harness can be purchased for around $5 new.
