are 6.5 balancers the same as 6.2's?

I just started to here a small ringing sound coming from the engine and found that its the balancer. The rubber is gone and the outer ring is spinning freely(thank god I caught in time) I have a 88 6.2 and a 82 6.2 will these balancers work or am I stuck finding one

Are we talking about the crank pulley or the actual harmonic balancer?

Both cases, no they will not interchange.

The 6.5 harmonic balancer has a shorter shaft that attaches to the crankshaft.

The pulley for obvious reasons, well, that is if the 6.2 was v-belt verses serpentine.
