No Power- black smoke

Hi all,
97 1500 with no power and heavy black smoke, dealer has read the codes and says it need a new IP. The codes are P0236... boost related and P01218 which is injection pump calibration. Could these be caused by the PDM?
We have replaced the vacuum pump and the boost sol last year, the PDM was replaced 2 years ago.
Any advise would be greatly appreciated

The first code sounds like the turbo isn't making boost, probably due to:

1: no vacuum to the boost solenoid
2: the solenoid has failed.

The second code for calibration circuit sounds as though the Pump Mounted Driver is missing it's calibration resistor, which won't cause too much fuel to be injected, but too little. Recommend replacing with a #5 resistor.
