Iam under the impression that the 82 heads are not good heads for performance. I have a 82 motor and a 88 motor Iam desiding which one to build are 88 heads good? and what are the differences

82 Heads are OK, but use the coarse thread injectors, which were only used that year. The 82 heads have the larger exhaust valves, as compared to some of the later heads, don't know how much the helps in the performance department.
The 88 heads (if they are truely 88) will have the different injector angle, leading to better starting characteristics. The key to more power will be the precombustion cups, the larger the hole, the more power. Check out the fuel economy article in the members area for more details on precups, even though they're directly related to 6.5.
If it were me, I'd run the 88.

As John mentioned, I would stay away from the '82 heads, simply for the injector reason. With '82 heads, you have few injector options, but go with '83 or later heads, and then you can choose between stock, high-pop, or marine injectors.
Use the '82 block for your engine build, though.
