I'd prefer to find a 6.5 for this awesome step van I am considering buying (sits with a blown motor currently). I saw a 6.2 in the classifieds that seems reasonable in terms of what I;d like to spend. Would the 6.2 drop in no problem whatsoever? I know where there are plenty of cummins 4bt's available but I on't know if it would pull this bigger step van (I've seen those in smaller ones, but this one's a quite a bit bigger). Thanks

If the step van in question is non-turbo, then no problems.
Just treat the 6.2L like a shortblock, and remove everything external from it (exhaust and intake, etc.). Bolt all the 6.5 accessories, the intake and the exhaust manifolds from the 6.5 onto the 6.2L, if the 6.5 had a serpentine belt system, use the waterpump from the 6.5 (or buy new) as well, because it rotates counter clockwise with serpentine belt system.
You may have to swap a valve cover too, to get the CDR valve to work wih the non-emissions intake on the 6.5 (if non turbo of course).
