I got my new transmission from Maddog transmission and during shipping the cover off of the rear output shaft fell off or something and there is some sand in the rear housing Will it be fine just to clean it out with carb cleaner or are there oil ports that I should watch out for? This is a 4 wheel drive 700r4.
Thanks,
Kyle

Clean it out best you can is all I can say...

So, you bought a Maddog tranny, I was tempted when I found out about them on ebay. I'll be patiently awaiting whether this guy knows his stuff in regard to the Diesel...

It said it could handle 700 horsepower and they say they gave me the correct torque converter so I think it should last. I will be sure to report on it.

What about the Governor? Make sure they made you a tranny that will work behind your Diesel. The torque convertor is actually only a small part of the puzzle. Your convertor should have a "6" stamped on it for the Diesel stall speed.

Where would that be at?

Well, this may not the be rule for ALL brands and makes of torque convertors, but what my local tranny shop told me is that there will be a single number staped on the front side of the convertor (where the bolts/nuts are) and will be stamped in between the ribs/vanes, so there will be several 6's stamped around. The Dayco replacement and my GM oem convertor both had the 6's.
