Need used 6.2l

Hi there,

I have a K1500 pickup over here in Germany. It uses a lot of oil and is low on power. I am not familiar with the engine. But I am surprised I thought it would last forever. Dont konw the exact milage cause it was exchanged, before it was a 5.7. I wasnow told I need to do rings pistons and cylinder honing. A big job. I thought I might better by a used machine in the States. Can anybody help me for a good source and the prices asked for a used 6.2?

For a complete longblock used engine I'd call up The Diesel Depot, they have tested used pull 6.2's that they sell outright, would be worth a try.

What has been done to the engine you have to determine it needs a re-ring job. If a compression test has been run, post the numbers, that will help troubleshoot whether it's worn out or not.

Oil consumption can be due to other things than rings. Check out the 6.2/6.5 online troubleshooting guide located in the members section on the main site that you get access to when signing up.
