I left my Deisel Page manual at home that lists the various sizes or sockets that can be used to remove injectors. Can somone post a couple options for me for the way home so I can pick one up :)

Thanks

If you have AC the deep socket won't fit on #8. Snap-on makes a 30mm socket for Bosch-type injectors but I get the idea you're not looking to spend that much.

the 30mm for front wheel drive axels will work on all cylinders, i just picked up one today and pulled all my injectors to clean them out. worked great. but it's about 14 bucks at AZone.

I used that socket several times from AutoZone on the Loan-a-Tool deal. Had to put up a $15 deposit, but always got it back.

paid $13cdn for a 30mm deep, no A/C to deal with right now so all injector are easy to get at. The 1 3/16 didn't look deep enough inside so I sent with the 30mm

$2.99/per injector plus the cost of the socket, along with 6 good glow plugs ... how did those get into my tool kit.

I certainly can't complain.

:) :) :)

Any suggestions on brands for the injector socket? I'm seeing the expensive Kent Moore ones and then somewhat cheaper for the OTC (? - not familiar with them) brand. Then others seem to say that other 30mm sockets work?

OTC is top of the line, they make the shop equipment (jacks, jackstands, pullers, scanners) you see almost everywhere. The most important things to look for are broaching deep enough to engage the hex on the injector, and a short enough OAL to fit on #8 if you have AC. If you plan on doing this more than once the Snap-on socket (S6128) or an equivalent will definitely be worth it.

Mine is an OTC and works fine.
Got it at the NAPA store.

Many thanks for the input. I was unfamiliar with OTC, but I'm seeing it significantly cheaper than the Snap On and Kent Moore ones...
