GM's been keeping the reveal of the GMT900 truck close to their chest. I just wrapped up a project dealing with the 900 truck platform and nobody from my team was even allowed in to see the truck in camouflage.
Why did I suspect the 900 was going to 'borrow' styling cues from the Colorado/Canyon? Hopefully the truck will get better looking after a year or two of production - I don't really care for the look at this time - but I had the same feeling when the GMT800 first came out.
I wonder what the GMC looks like.

I could possibly get used to the front end of that, although I think the current model looks better. But that weird thing about the rear wheel openings that they've been doing with the Colorado/Canyon just leaves me completely cold. I have no idea what they think it looks like or is supposed to look like.

It appears GM borrowed more from the Nissan Titan than they did the Colorado/Canyon. I prefer the monochrome look of the new Tahoe's front-end.
As far as the sculpted fenders, I suspect an SS would look great with a slightly lowered stance and with fat 20" meats filling the wells. ;)

Funny you mention an SS. I have not heard a single peep about a GMT900 version. I am not sure if the relatively weak sales of the GMT800 SS swayed Marketing to cancel it for the 900 or not. The GMT800 SS, although sold through GM dealerships, was not a GM designed or installed package.

Hmmm... I just don't see any resemblance to the Titan. What I (and others) are referring to about the Colorado/Canyon is the weird swept back rear wheelwells. That just doesn't do anything for me...

What are the trying to make humpty yuppie truck Now? JD
The aftermarket guys (SEMA etc) should have fun with that front end. Area between the headlights looks perfect for a nice billet grill. Get rid of those wide and long horizontal strips. Looks bad for Chevrolet designers when the aftermarket can make better looking front ends than the manufacturer.

Considering how the 900 is brought to you by the same Styling group that gave us the Aztec, they could have done worse.
If that's what it looks like when I finish off my '02, I'll be looking close at a Dodge. That thing looks like a rice burner. Ugliest truck GM has developed ever in my opinion. Hopefully by another 5 or 6 years, they'll figure it out and give it a major makeover.
I've always been loyal to GM trucks, but sometimes you have to draw that line in the sand.

Hopefully they will do something different for the HD version of the truck !! (or maybe GMC can save the day). As mentioned in several post above, the GM design team seems to miss the mark more often than they hit it (remember the Aztec, Impala, the wedge shaped minivan(?), etc).
Sometimes things look better in person or they grow on you over time. Time will tell.

Roof rails on a pick-up, no wonder gm is going broke...That is the ugliest bed I have ever seen anyone use. No wonder Toyota and all others are selling more trucks than gm...I am in the process of buying a Dodge Megacab 4x4 Dually right now...At least it looks like a full size truck. That new chevy looks like a midsize to me...Sorry gm after 9 new gm's I am going to give dodge a try... At least the Duramax/Allison is a winner...Maybe they will let others use the engine in a nicer looking truck...Just my 2 cents...

As soon as I saw the pics I called my dad (who picked up his 06 LBZ last week) and told him how lucky we were to have gotten ours now. I didn't like the body changes to this model year, but they grew on me.
I don't like these changes at all. The pseudo wheel flares tell me that Chevy likes the look of the Titan and Tundra. I just don't like it. A truck is a truck, quit trying to make it a car!
Maby we have to se the new silverado in real person
a few years ago there were many people who dont like the front end from the 2003-2004 and 2005-2006 silverado`s...........

It took Ford years to own up to the fact that the F-150s they brought out several years ago looked piss ugly. The ones they have now look much better, but I think if I had to buy a new truck just on looks it would be the F-250 or F-350.
I agree that it may look better in person, but I think the SSR and HHR looked worse in person... I was pretty excited about the SSR when I first saw the pictures, but the first time I saw one on the street...
I used to like the look of the Dodges, but they've "jellybeaned" the look too much for me.
