K & N Filter problem??????

Hi all

Here we go again another silly problem I have a K&N Non Disposable Filter on 6.2 well that is what is written on it it says it can be cleaned but advises K&N Filter cleaner:confused:

My problem is what is the cleaner have any of you come across this before and is there any thing else I can use, as over here in UK all I get is blanks looks from the places I have asked (motorfactors:mad: )

K&N makes a recharge kit, that comes with both the oil and the cleaner.

The cleaner is probably an engine degreaser. You could use a degreaser in can to spray on the mesh, then wash off. I like the GUNK's Engine Degreaser with the ORANGE cap (blue sucks)...

Personally, I would NOT use the K&N. The element is sensitive to the amount of oil and how sealed the filter box is. I feel they have their place, but not in a truck used everyday. There are no savings if you are taking dirt into your engine. I had a K&N and it did not filter properly after about 1.5 years, even after using K&N cleaner and oil recharge, so I changed to the 1997 style filter system. Do a search and make your own decision. Just my 2 pence.

the filter is already on vehicle and have actually maanged to find a company locally that has recharge kit so am going to try that first as new filter it loads of money and have to work to budget:( but thanks for advice

you probably already know this but here goes...
just a quick note that K&N recommends flushing in the opposite direction as the air flow. this way you push the dirt out and not back into the filter

i got recharge kit and it has instructions so cannot really go wrong:rolleyes: it cost me $20 but it hopefully is going to be worth it.
