View Full Version : Mileage @ 22400gvw
Memorial weekend trip of 539 miles roundtrip, southern Ohio to southern Ky., Evarts, Harlan County was mostly hills, SR32, I275, I75, 25E, Ky119, Ky38. Pulled 38' enclosed gooseneck w/ living quarters, 5 ATV's, and gear, real close to 22400# truck and trailer plus add on 3 people. Pulled great, plenty of power, temps in mid 80's to low 90's, air cond of course. Speed usually 67-70 mph hill or no hill. Mileage was 11.6 mpg, I'm happy! Lost the cat a month ago and under heavy load engine seems to pull easier, no diff under no to light loads. Last summer a 400 pound lighter load only ran 10.5 mpg with cat. Believe cat costs somwhere between .5 -1 mpg under heavy load. Does any one concur with my observation?? bob.............. Also now have a boost stick this summer to top off the Edge/Attitude that was on last summer.

My mileage has decreased, since changing to 265 size tires. I thought I was compensating for the 3 % difference in size. Am wondering if I am figuring wrong or if I need to clean out injectors? Usually put in Lucas fuel treatment once a month and about once a month I treat with FPPF.
My tires are still stock, and I seldom add additive, once or twice a winter and I use Stanadyne. Since the cat fell off,,, hardworking heavy mileage seems better. In 2 weeks another trip to Ky. pulling a little lighter, about 300# lighter. Will chk mileage again. bob..............
Just back from Jackson Ky. Rode atv's, good time w/ good friends. Mileage was 11.8 MPG, over 409 miles, @ 50 MPG average. Ran about 450# lighter than Memorial weekend, about same speeds, same type roads. Still think less the cat helps hard pulls at least .5 - 1 MPG. This weekend gross wt just under 22000#, 3 weeks ago about 22400# road conditions, temps, etc, nearly the same. bob..................
