View Full Version : Jumpy Oil Pressure Needle

I'm on my third OPS in as many weeks (including the orginal switch). The lift pump runs with the truck in gear and the key turned to start. The lift pump also runs for a few seconds after cold start/shut down.
The problem comes when the oil gauge needle starts jumping. It's a high frequency, low amplitude vibration that comes and goes. When the needle is vibrating, the lift pump cuts in and out.
If I replace the OPS, everything is fine for about 40 to 50 miles. After that the gauge goes back to its antics. At this point, I'm thinking electrical problem.
I've checked my grounds and batteries and they are OK. I have noticed the alternator bearings (NAPA rebuilt) are starting to howl. The factory voltmeter does not show any fluctuation, however.
Any ideas? Thanks much.

Ok, second electrical gremlin just started this morning. Loud electrical whine over the radio when tuned to am stations.
