Howdy
Does anyone know how to install the IP on a new motor? My Haynes book states that I need a Kent Moore special tool? Is this just to determine TDC? This is my old pump going into a new motor.
Thanks in advance!

The book is correct. You need a bi-lateral reader like a Tech II to reset the timing and TDC.
If you get the IP mounted as close as you think it was before you might get the truck running with only some fine tuning left to do. The programming in the Driver has a "window" for compensating for chain wear. If you can get in this "window" you might be OK.

Thanks Charlie, I know that to set the exact timing I'll need to go to a dealer. I'm just trying to set the static timing. The book states the in order to do this I need a kent-mooore tool.
Just wondering if there is another way?

Install the pump and adjust it so the pump is straight up and down. It will start, their is a lot of latitude in static adjustment.
