The 2007 Duramax diesels are emissions qualified, when running 2007 fuel. The engine will run with a particulate trap in the exhaust system, and is said to perform as well as the current LBZ. :)

Looking into the future, expect expanded use of EGR (more/larger coolers) and a 2-stage (dual turbo) VNT (Variable Nozzle Turbo) system for faster spool-up and lower cold start emissions.

Incidentally, the new 6.4L Powerstroke is said to be running a 2-stage VNT turbo system for its 2007 model year introduction, with a rumored 350/650 rating. The new 6.7L Cummins is said to be in the vicinity of 325/720 for its first year introduction.

No word on fuel economy changes...... :rolleyes:

the 6.0 psd is why i m back here......glad to hear the future of dmax is looking good. i was going to wait for a 07 dmax but timing was off a bit. the 06 is great. my 02 sierra with dmax was great until injector probs set in....

I wonder when it will stop? I for one believe you can never have too much power, but it can't be long before insurance companies start freaking out! When you have a light duty truck capable of pulling a 15K load up a 6%grade at 75MPH!

What will it be in 10 years, 800HP at 2000'lbs?

No you'll be using Diesel-Electric powertrain, the engine will do little more than charge the batteries except under load. Ice breakers that work in the Arctic circle are diesel electric, the diesel engine does NOTHING but charge the batteries.

Diesel electrics have been around for a long time in locomotives... It will be a very long time before we see any in our trucks.

I'd be OK with that. Electric motors have a flat torque curve (at max torque) from 0 rpm all they way up to max rpm.

Does anyone know when the new bodystyle 2500HD DMax is due out? is it going to lag a year behind the new 1500? as it had done in the past?
