View Full Version : Tire Size Change and Odometer Variation?

For some reason I just thought of this on my way into work today...When I changed my tires to 265's (2 years ago) I did the VSSB re-configuration. But, does the odometer work off of the VSSB, or is it simply hooked up to a wheel? If the latter is the case, then my odometer would be reading a little bit low, correct? If I calculated correctly, I'm coming up with about 3.2% (100 miles on the odometer would actually be 103.2).

No, the VSSB is where the speedo is conected. It can be checked easily by holding your speed at 60 and counting the mile markers on an interstate.Sixty seconds and one mile marker =60 MPH.The acuaracy increases if you use more than one marker.

Thanks, Warren. But, where is the odometer hooked up? Does it work off the speedo?

Yep, the odometer is run with the speedometer. No speedometer, no miles accumulated on the odometer (in the event of a bad speed sensor, etc.).

I'm sorry i think I misunderstood your question. Yes the speedo and odo are hooked together to the VSSB.The speedo and odo use one of the outputs of the VSSB.

Thanks Warren, John. I was hoping you would tell me the opposite - 'cause then I would actually be getting higher mileage! Oh well. It was a good thought, though, right?

A little off here, but, If one lost the odometer after a vssb hack and the speedo still works what could be the problem?
