In the winter, if I go out to start up the truck in the garage and just back it out into the drive and then shut it down, I can still hear the pump run until I'm several steps away while I'm walking back into the garage. This is because when it's cold the oil is thick enough that it holds pressure against the oil pressure switch which keeps the pump powered up.
