Well next week I will be bringing home an 86 CUCV M1009 ( Blazer ). The present owner states he has never had it running and was told the inj pump is bad. Where should I start to try and get this thing running ? Should I flush the fuel sys out with K-1 ?

Thanks
Mark

Yes, flush the fuel system. Change the fuel filter. Check for leaks. Go over the electrical - make sure the starter cranks and that the fuel injection pump's fuel-shutoff & HPCA solenoids activate with key-on. Check all fuses...

To this i would add cleaning the fuel tank, maybe remove the fuel lines and blow them out depending on time it's sat.change the oil and filter before you start it...but use cheap oil because your going to change it again within 20 miles with good stuff.
resistance check all the glow plugs and make certain the glow system is fully operational before any attempt is made to start.or it won't.
make sure the batteries are in good shape, and with the first tank of clean diesel, use a pile of the best diesel treat or conditioner you can find.
