I am currently have an intermittent electrical problem.
Sometime when I turn the key on no IP lights display.
Also at the same time when I open the door there is no floor lights.
The condition is simular to disconnecting the batteries.
Has anyone experience this before??
The Batteries check out ok.
Is there a relay between the Batteries and Ignition switch, that could
cause a problem?
Couldn't find any info in the trouble shooting guides.
Appreciate any info to track this problem down.
Rod.

94-95 has had issues with needing to replace the switch. Its not so much the key switch but the switch that is down on the collum. I've yet to have to replace mine but I think the key has a rod that goes down the steering and the switch is down there some where. Cycling the key makes a difference?
Could also make sure it's not a grounding issue

Thanks Bnave95.
I will check ignition switch out. I did read a thread some time ago about
R&R ignition switch, cannot find it.
FYI: After your responce to my thread last week about FLP and the need to
cut fuel lines. I contacted the saleman, who supplied the FLP, he said that he supplied the aftermarket one, and I did have to cut lines. I sent this FLP back
and told him to send me an OEM type. Which he did, it fitted just fine without any modifications to the Fuel lines or the power plug.
I primmed the filter and the truck started right up.
I then started to get the problem listed above.
Not having a good week, but that's life!!
The earths check out ok, picked up another tip that relates to fusable links
will check these out as well.
Again thankyou for your help, I appreciare it.
Regards: Rod.
Good news, being able to fine the right FLP. Yes there is a fuseable link running from starter to some where. In 95 all this had changed. Look's like for the better.

IP= Instrament Panel-dash lights.
The thing is that when this problem occurs there is not electrics at all
in the cab.
I push and jiggled the electrical blocks under the left side dash, this worked
as it started right up. I thought that a good test would be cold start
this morning which is 6.30am Sunday the 9th in Aust. On entry of key
the full dash lights displayed along with the glow plug light, I cycled the
switch 2 times and the truck started right up. Although the indicator
seems to be no power at all, eg: no floor lights, no door locks nothing.
Hope this provides a clearer discription of my problem.
Thanks' for you help, I appreciate your comments.

Thanks, that clears up the IP. To me IP=Injection Pump. Through me.
Under dash wiring, fuse block or grounding issue. All under dash.
Grounding from Eng. bay, battery's to dash.
I'm still Thinking ground's and power to the fuse block.
Looks like your be fishing:)
If all work will in the Eng area than I'd probley ruel out Key switch.

There was a thread acouple years ago concerning a mod yr '94 with electric issues. The problem was solved only after the owner remade connections at the battery cable stud on the starter motor...seems all power went that route.

Thanks Tom mac 95 & Bnave95.
I have sourced the thread that you listed.
Sounds like a good job for me over the Easter break.
I hooked up my horse trailer, loaded 2 horses, and headed off Sunday
to a friends place, we had planned a 20klm R&R trail ride. I was Feeling a bit nervous that the Electrical problem may stick me up, especially with the
extra earth and power load from the horse trailer. However the truck started
right up, 6 trailer lights, 4 stop lights, 4 turning lights all worked ok.
No indication to and from, that the problem would present.
I guess thats why I have titled the problem intermittent- got to be the
worst type of problem, then we add Electrical. Got to Luv that!!
Never less the problem exists, and I will fix it.

Rod.
