When I flushed my cooling and changed from 180*to 195* my code 35 cleared along with 78 that might just have been in memery.
The thing that gets me, when I first start out in the mornings the truck runs like I know off for may years. When the temps get to the 195* range the truck just really comes to life. The power is unlike I'm use to. Just with very little peddle the power jumps, the boost is now! In my big heavy truck I have never turned a corner and broke the tires loose. When cold I can't do it but when it hits that upper temps I can brake them loose.
I'm stumped, not complaining. The EGT does not change,if any thing it's lower.

The OBD I trucks need just 140 degrees F for the electronics to operate at their "at operating temperature" mode. The OBD II trucks need 170.

I noticed the same thing with my 96. I had twin 180F tstats in it, switced to 195's, mpg's went up 1-1.5 mpg's in all aspects, city, towing, freeway.......

WHile the 180's did give me a bit more hi end before hitting the 220F range to shut down the injection pump towing, the city driving was better mpg and power wise etc.

Higher temps give you more spark advance!

Then this must be true. So why would any one want to run the 180*? If your cooling system is top grade, 180*, even towing won't keep the Eng. any cooler? I know something in the system has change. I'm just happy the code 35 went away and not seeing that SES light come and go is a good feeling.
I would like to know of any one that has had an issue with code 35-36,what temp stat. were being used.
