I can get a used pulley from a '96. I need one because I am converting to serpentine on my rebuild for ease of use and the cooling mods. It is worth getting a used one or should I get a new one? Is this as critical as the blancer? He wants to sell it for 70 and I can get a new one for 163. It has minor surface cracking, but looks ok.

Stay away from it,It's to old and for $163 you can't beat that. The 96 is no good and yes this item is VERY important!

The snout on the 1994 or newer damper (part that slides over the end of the crank) is shorter than the 1982-1993 damper to accomodate the reluctor wheel located just ahead of the crank timing chain sprocket. For this reason, you can't swap dampers between a mechanically fuel injected engine and an electronic engine.

Some have machined a spacer, which would work fine...., but not worth the trouble is you're looking to buy a new damper anyway.
