I want to put a new serpentine belt system on my old 6.2. Do you need the water pump back plate from a 6.5 or the whole timing cover?
Thanks,
Kyle
To swap from V-Belt to serpentine/reverse rotation pump, you just need to swap the steel backing plate.
I don't know what's needed for the "high flow" pump conversion, though.

There are two versions of the 6.5 pump...
The High Volume ~130 GPM water pump, or the standard reverse rotation waterpump used on early (pre 97) 6.5's and serpentine 6.2's.
The parts used are the same, the backing plate will be the same for both 6.5 waterpumps.
The v-belt waterpump and the serpentine waterpumps do use different backing plates as stated above..
If considering the HO waterpump, realize that you have to install this with the dual thermostat crossover housing.
