Just thinking out loud here ...

If I was to take the coolant return line for the heater core and route it back into the water pump instead of the radiator would the cab warm up quicker?

I know this is phsically possible but would there be an advantage. I am thinking the sooner there's heat in the cab the better ... specially on those cold winter mornings.

Thanks guys

1.) Works fine. Warms up quicker.

2.) I've done it on several of mine.

Here's how I did it in my ongoing "BeaterBurb" project:

Hey BobND, why the shutoff?

The vehicle is my work BEATER, and I'm to cheap to fix the A/C. Keeping the hot water out of the heater core helps. Even though there is a door that directs airflow AROUND the heater core when the heat control is in the COLD position, some leaks through the core, plus it radiates heat into the cab.
