Anyone know of a good place to tap in for a mechanical oil pressure guage on an LBZ? My dash guage only shows around 35 psi at 1500 rpm so I'd like to make sure it is accurate.
Dave,
Assuming it hasn’t changed on the LBZ, there is a 3/8 plug on the bottom of the Oil Filter/Cooler Adapter that you could use.

Prior to installing an OilGuard bypass filter I plumbed a mechanical gauge to this port to check pressure for use as an oil feed.. I found the pressure on the OEM gauge tracked the mechanical gauge on my 03 LB7 - 28-30psi hot idle, 60-65 psi at 2000+rpm (hot). If you use this port note that the plug comes out HARD - there is what appears to be red-loctite on it. Also if using this port for a permanent gauge install, be sure to use a precision steel hydraulic grade fitting – one that is designed for a “dry seal”. Standard brass fittings will leak (see OilGuard Bypass Filter Installation (http://72.22.76.69/tdpforum/showthread.php?t=8763&highlight=guard) for more info on the plug and fittings)

Thanks Bill, it's numbers like yours that make me wonder if I am too low. I read about numbers around 60psi while driving and at 2000 rpm I'm only at 50 with syn or regular oil. Maybe nothing wrong...I dunno.
