i have a 82 gm pick u p6.2 diesel with turbo 400 trans what is the factory rear end gear ratio??

jack up one rear wheel,mark the tire then grab the driveshaft and start turning,count turns til tire gets back around to where you started,(example)if it takes just over 4 turns its 4:10,if it's about 3 3/4 turns it's 3:73,if it's just under 3 1/2 turns it's 3:42,if just a hair over 3 turns it's 3:08,and if by chance the wheel doesn't spin,it's a posi rear end then jack both wheels off the ground and turn the shaft and count revolutions.

sorry about that you have to go 2 revolutions of the tire on the non posi units

Look on the build sheet sticker for the axle code (assuming it's as-original).

Codes will likely be GT* or GU*.
