Sorry if these have been answered before, but I cannot find exactly what I am looking for and I am def. not a mechanic.

1996 GMC Suburban 1500 2wd, Kennedy 3.5 exhaust, Lube Specialist oil lines, Heath Turbo Master, Heath Computer, and Heath PMD Isolater (not yet put on)

(1) I am getting a lot of transmission leak from the weep hole on cold starts. Only till it warms up. ????

(2) White smoke and sputtering on start up. I have the 97 upgrade as it is late model '96 and not losing any coolant. It seems better when I run a lot of additive and actually pump the throttle. I have changed all glow plugs and they seem to be working.

(3) How hard is it to change to the Heath PMD Isolator? The bugger doesn't want to come lose at the connection so I can put the extension on.

Thanks for all the great posts and sorry if these have been answered and I didn't find them.

Nelson

You didn't mention how many miles on your 'Burb.

Concerning white smoke on start-up. Maybe time for injectors...

Also re: #2, pumping accelerator, if done B4 engine engages, is an illusion. APP (accelerator pedal position sensors) is fully electronic & demand prior to engine catching is meaningless; PCM ignores pumping unless/until engine is running. Probably one of those "feels like" things.

It has 142,000 miles on it. I'm the second owner and bought it at 118,000. Pump replaced at 108,000 per paperwork in truck.

Check your glow plugs after about 3 years I have at least one that needs replacing.

Heath PMD kit not difficult, may need to pull off upper intake plenum to get at plug on side of IP/PMD a little easier, good time to clean out the excess webbing in the upper plenum 2wd I suspect you might be a LD (S/EGR engine) (S or F letter #8 in VIN F is HD), check out what a modded plenum looks like at web link in my sig.

PMD plug - I got mine off without pulling anything - but it was a bugger. Realized there's a real good chance it's not going back on the PMD. Nexst is to pull that one off the pump, and put it in the spare parts kit.

Thanks for the tips. Find out what caused my tranny leak. Flywheel warped causing torque converter to wear bushing in in the pump. Not looking forward to the bill tomorrow. I am going to try and pull the glow plugs this weekend and check them. Hope it is the plugs as I don't need the extra bill for injectors after the tranny fix.
